| On the road to a new era |
For 5 months now, the POK® Product development department has been developing a fire fighting robot for the Chinese market. Creating a robot is not easy. The constraints are multiple and the crossing of several fields of engineering (mechanical, electrical, computer…) complicates the work. However, it is a challenge that our Product development department has taken up and is on its way to success.
The first machine entirely designed by our company, the POK remote-controlled intervention robot will be the first step towards the potential development of a new range of products. Equipped with a DN65 remote-controlled monitor and a motorised diffuser of 3,000 liters per minute, Robot POK will be able to deploy its extinguishing force in areas at risk for the personnel involved.
Its design, combining anodised aluminium and stainless steel, allows a relatively low centre of gravity, thus facilitating its control for the operator. The use of a tracked propulsion system allows the POK Robot to operate on different types of terrain. This new product will be supplied with headlamp blocks developing 1500 lumens of lighting and will be equipped with a submersible camera having a resolution of 960H.
The Product development department develops the control boards for the robot, the monitor and the entire man-machine interface, to guarantee simple and ergonomic handling of our new product. The first test phases, scheduled for the second quarter of 2017, will enable us to make the final adjustments to the control section and confirm the final technical characteristics of the POK remote-controlled intervention robot.
This study was very enriching from a technical point of view for our company. At the dawn of the release of its first robot, POK is already sketching the first features of its successor. Case to be continued!
